More Information About Paying Your Rent

All Cheshire Peaks & Plains Housing Trust tenants are charged rent to live in their home. This rent covers the costs of the services we provide, including repairs and improvements, so it is very important that everyone pays their rent on time.

Rent is due each week and is charged to your account on a Monday. You can choose to pay your rent weekly or monthly, but in both cases you will need to pay in advance. There are normally 48 weeks when rent is due each year, with two non-rent weeks in March/April and two during December. As a tenant, it is your responsibility to ensure that rent gets paid on time.

6 ways to pay
There are now 6 ways to pay your rent, so you can choose whichever is most convenient for you.

·        With your Allpay payment card - You can now pay your rent at any Post Office or local shop displaying the PayPoint sign.  This includes over 180 shops in the Macclesfield area.

·        Over the internet - Paying your rent is available through the Allpay Website. CLICK HERE  to visit this website.  Please be aware that this will open a new web page which will give you all the information you need to make your payment.  Make sure you have you AllPay card available as you will be asked for the reference before proceeding.

·        By phone - You can make telephone payments using your debit card by calling Allpay on 0870 243 6040.  This is an automated system, which is available 24 hours a day.

·        By post - You can send your payment to us in the post.  Please make your cheque payable to Cheshire Peaks & Plains Housing Trust Limited.  Don’t forget to write your name and address on the back of the cheque.

·        Direct Debit - If you have a bank or building society account, you can pay by direct debit.  This is the easiest way to pay, as the money is automatically taken on one of 4 dates which are 1st, 8th, 15th, and 20th of each month.

·        Standing Order - This will also allow you to pay directly from your bank or building society, and can be set up weekly, fortnightly or monthly in advance.  If your rent changes, you will need to amend your standing order.

If you’d like to set up a direct debit or standing order, please call us on 0800 012 1311 and we will send you the relevant forms to complete.

Housing Benefit

If you are entitled to Housing Benefit, it is your responsibility to claim it, otherwise you will still be responsible for paying your full rent. If you would like advice about Housing Benefit, you can call our Income Team on 0800 012 1311.

If you cannot pay

If you are struggling to pay your rent for any reason, we want to help, so please get in touch as soon as possible. Don’t ignore the problem, as it will not go away. We have specially trained staff who are able to give you the advice and support you need. In addition to our Income Team, we also have a specialist Money Advice Officer, who can advise you on all aspects of managing your finances, whether that be household budgeting, sorting out debt or claiming appropriate benefits.

The Trust is committed to supporting our customers with their rent arrears, and/or other debt problems. We promise to make realistic arrangements with you to clear your rent arrears, and we will only take further action as a last resort, once all other steps have been taken. However, whilst the Trust will support its customers, we have a strict rent arrears and collection policy and at times it is necessary to take formal action against those customers who do not maintain their rent account. If you fail to keep up to date with your rent, you risk losing your home. In this borough where there is huge pressure on housing, it will then be very difficult to find something else of the same size, quality, and with the same security.

Don’t let this happen to you, contact us immediately on 0800 012 1311.
