Community Clean Up Day
27th October 2009

This is one of series of regular clean up days that the Trust organises throughout the area. The aim of the day is to get everyone involved in improving the local environment and quality of life for residents. Staff from the housing trust and other local partners will be meeting at the Packhorse Bowling Club on Abbey Road at 9am, and will be working in the area until 1pm to clear litter and rubbish from open areas and tidy up anywhere that needs attention.

As with previous days, a number of partners have agreed to help, including Cheshire Fire Service and Cheshire Police. Henshaw’s skip hire have agreed to supply skips at several locations across the estate to give residents the opportunity to dispose of any of their garden or household rubbish. These skips will be on Kirkstall Close, Stoneligh Close, Woburn Close and Buckfast Close.

Local children have also been involved, and children from Bollinbrook C of E Primary School entered a competition to design posters for the clean up day. The winning entry was produced by a Year 3 pupil and has been made into publicity posters which have been distributed across the area.

Emma Marsh, Head of Housing at the Trust, said “Our clean up days are a great way for everyone to come together and make a real difference to their neighbourhood. It’ll be great to see staff, partners and residents all working together on something so positive. We’d like to pass on our thanks to everyone who’s agreed to take part so far, in what we’re sure will be another really successful day. We hope that the sense of community and team spirit continues long after the day is over.”
