Following the success of similar events across the borough, Cheshire Peaks & Plains Housing Trust is holding a community clean up day on Wednesday 28th May on the Upton Priory estate in Macclesfield.
The aim of the day is to get everyone involved in improving the local environment and quality of life for residents. Staff from the housing trust and other local partners will be out and about on the estate from 10am to 3pm, and will be working to clear litter and rubbish from open areas and tidy up anywhere that needs attention.
A number of local partners have agreed to take part, including Whites Building Services who are currently carrying out improvement work on the estate on behalf of Cheshire Peaks & Plains. Henshaw’s Skip Hire have agreed to supply skips at several locations across the estate to give residents the opportunity to dispose of any of their garden or household rubbish. Representatives from the local police, Johnnie Johnson Housing and the fire service will also be helping out on the day.
Local youngsters have been involved, and children from Upton Priory Primary School entered a competition to design posters for the clean up day. The winning entries have been made into publicity posters and distributed across the area.
Louise Roche, Head of Customer Services at the Trust, said “We were delighted with the success of our last clean up events and were keen to build on this with a series of days across the borough. This day on Upton Priory is a fantastic way for everyone to come together and make a real difference to their neighbourhood. It’ll be great to see staff, partners and residents all working together on something so positive. We’d like to pass on our thanks to everyone who’s agreed to take part so far, in what we’re sure will be another really successful day. We hope that the sense of community and team spirit continues long after the day is over.”
