Tenants of Cheshire Peaks & Plains Housing Trust whose homes are being improved can now go and see what their new kitchens will look like thanks to the Trust’s contractor ROK.

The Trust is in the process of delivering a major improvement programme, which will see £43 million invested in local homes. Internal improvements could include new kitchens, bathrooms, central heating and electrical upgrades. Every home has been surveyed to determine what work is needed and improvements are being carried out across the borough over the next four years, with ROK currently delivering improvements on the Moss and Hurdsfield estates.

Tenants are fully consulted before the improvement work begins – for example in a kitchen they are able to choose their layout and colour of units, worktops, flooring, decoration and tiles. However, customers have been concerned that they cannot imagine what the end result will look like. ROK have therefore provided an ideal solution in the form of a kitchen showroom!

The unit, which is based at ROK’s offices on Snape Road in Macclesfield, contains a fully made up kitchen, so that tenants can see what their room will look like once work is completed. It also contains examples of the different colour and style options available to them. It is open to tenants to come and view throughout the week, and is being officially opened on Tuesday 12th February.

In addition to this, the Trust and its contractors have developed a DVD which shows tenants the reality of having improvement work carried out in their homes. The DVD explains the process and shows examples of real tenants’ homes during the work. It also includes frank interviews with tenants who have had work carried out. Finally, the Trust also has a kitchen display within its office reception area which shows the different options available.

Trust Director of Customer Services, Jacqui Sinnott, who is opening the showroom says: “Since these are significant improvements, customers are bound to experience some disruption and inconvenience whilst the work is carried out. The aim of this showroom and our DVD is to demonstrate that the end result will be worth it! We hope that customers will take advantage of this opportunity and come along to have a look for themselves.”
